We are NYC natives and Fort Greene/Clinton Hill residents since 2004.
Square Root Cafe was first imagined during the Summer of 2002. We had just bought a tumble down cottage on the unhip side of the Hudson River Valley. While relaxing on the front porch, we dreamt about opening a cafe in the delerict train station down the road. A cafe that would be welcoming to everyone - longtime resident, new residents and weekenders alike. Five years later the idea for the location has changed but the welcoming concept remains.
